Here We Go With The Red...

St. Mary's Church - Colored Pencil (8" x 10") 2006

When I first started to draw as a child I was, like most other children, fascinated with color. I've had my favorite color periods throughout my life, including an awful lemon yellow stage when I was 7 to 9 years old and an equally dreadful black phase in my late teens, but one color remained consistently on my hot list and that was Chinese red. Most of my lust for the glories of red may be due to 20 plus years of drawing neutral and earthy canine, feline and equine portraits but the rest is as it
Oh, I do hold dear one bright yellow favorite from all those years ago but only in lemon meringue pie form.

St. Mary's Church is the first work I share with you here. It is not the first I've done and it most certainly will not be the last.
